Currently there is a rash of viruses going around that normal anti-virus software wont get rid of. Apparently the virus writers are able to get around Norton, McAfee and a few others as well as the standard Anti Spyware products, Ad Aware and Spy Bot S&D. So how do you get rid of this crap? Try this...
1. Download Malwarebytes. I just recently found out about this program and it works really well. There is of course a free version as well as a paid version. I have had a lot of success with the free version
2. Download and run SmitFraudfix. This program has a weird name but it works great, just be sure to run it in safe mode and run option 2.
3. Really I should put this as step 1, but sometimes you cant install or run apps before removing the virus, but either way, download and run CCleaner. It will clear out all the crap, hence the C in front of Cleaner. Also, run the registry cleaner twice, it is very effective. This is a great tool to use before defragmenting as well.
