Cardinals beat the Panthers
Ravens beat the Titans
Eagles beat the Giants
Could it be that the bye week hurt these teams? It seems that way. But we also know that historically speaking, the bye week teams have always faired better. So what gives? Here's my theory, and I don't claim to be any football genius. I think that in today's NFL, there is a lot of parity, so much so, that when the second week of the playoffs rolls around, the team that had the bye week isn't really that much better than the team that had to play the week before in the Wildcard weekend. Then when you factor in that the higher seeded team had a week off and the other team just played 6 or 7 days ago, you have a situation where the lower seeded team is on a roll and the team with the bye has a little rust on em.
Now as far as the Chargers and Steelers are concerned, the Steelers were just a flat out better team.
